Orbx Releases South America Mesh for MSFS

Orbx development team has recently released another mesh improvement for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This time, they released the South America Mesh. The release was announced through their social media, as well as their forums.

Mesh is an essential part of any simulator scenery. This function determines how the terrain generates, meaning that all the different shapes, hills, lakes, etc. are configured using mesh within the simulator.

Orbx has always worked around global scenery assets, creating a more realistic experience for VFR flights. The development team has a history of creating global mesh packages for Flight Simulator X and Prepar3D. Recently though, they started introducing their mesh improvements to the simulator of the new era.

The South America Mesh package, as the name suggests, improves how the scenery looks on the South American continent. This package includes data that change the resolution of terrain to 10 meters per pixel, creating more detailed hills and changes within the terrain.

It doesn’t affect the default mesh the simulator uses as this is a standalone scenery. There is no impact created by it within the main simulator files. Also, people with weaker computers do not have to worry about performance, as the package is less than 25 gigabytes big and it is well optimized.

Features

  • 10m DEM data for the Andes
  • Minimal performance impact
  • Compiled to reduce LOD morphing
  • Self-contained product

The scenery is now available through the Orbx website. If you would like to buy it, you can do so for around €12.91, as you will be charged AUD18.84. Lastly, if you want to learn more about Orbx, you can read our different article about their work here.
