Parallel 42 took to their Facebook page to announce the release of their latest product: Victoria Falls Scenery Pack for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The scenery is a re-release of the original version by Jeppesen2001 with a few minor tweaks and updates.

Jeppeson2001 Joins Parallel 42

Last week, Parallel 42 took to their blog to announce that popular scenery packs developer Simon Fogarty, aka Jeppeson2001, has joined the P42 team as their new Head of Scenery Design. Simon’s work has already contributed to many P42 sceneries we have come to love. Jeppeson2001 has previously released many sceneries of his own such as the Niagara Falls scenery pack, Victoria Falls Scenery Pack, KFFZ Falcon Field, and Hogwarts Express. Those titles too will be brought under the P42 umbrella very soon.

About Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls (Lozi: Mosi-oa-Tunya, “Thundering Smoke”; Tonga: Shungu Namutitima, “Boiling Water”) is a waterfall on the Zambezi River in Southern Africa. It is located on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia. Victoria Falls is one of the largest waterfalls in the world with a width of 1,708 m (5,604 ft). The area around the waterfall is a habitat for several unique species of plants and animals.

Despite being neither the widest nor the highest waterfall, Victoria Falls is classified as the largest in the world based on its combined width of 1,708 m and height of 108 m. This results in the world’s largest sheet of falling water. It is roughly twice the height of North America’s Niagara Falls and well over twice its width.

Key Features

Parallel 42’s Victoria Falls Scenery Pack for MSFS features various dirt strips and heliports based on real-world data. The pack aims to deliver a unique flying experience for bush flyers and helicopter pilots not found in the default MSFS platform. The waterfall, Victoria Falls, itself has been animated with distinct sounds and mist effects.

Furthermore, the developers have also modeled the iconic Victoria Falls Bridge, complete with an animated bungee jumper. Cable cars, microlights, speedboats, and rafts have also been modeled. The team has also animated the river rapids along a 23-mile stretch of Batoka Gorge on the Zambezi River. Various riverboats, tourist hotels, animated cargo doors, and the Heli Mover at the Elephant Hills Heliport have also been modeled and included in the scenery pack.

More than 14 bush strips and heliports have been handcrafted to the highest detail and have been added to the Victoria Falls scenery pack for maximum immersion and adventure. The team has also included a route map showcasing tours in case any simmers may want inspiration on where you can fly.
