After the problematic release of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Parallel 42, known for developing various realism-enhancing add-ons for different flight simulators, shared its official roadmap for Asobo’s latest release. The developer provided more details about the compatibility of its products and their updates, which may be available for an additional fee or free.
New Product Terminology
After updating its compatibility dashboard, Parallel 42 classified its products as either “Compatible” or “Native.” Compatible products refer to those that will work in MSFS2024 just as they do in MSFS2020, without any major changes. Native products will be updated to fully leverage MSFS2024’s new features and will be adjusted for its limitations.
Free Product Updates and Additional Fees
Parallel 42 has extended its “free update” window to one year, meaning that all products released within one year of November 19, 2024, will receive free updates to MSFS2024 Native versions. On the other hand, products released outside of this one-year window will require a $2 fee to be updated to the MSFS2024 Native version. This approach aims to prevent users from having to spend more on a recently released product for an update to the MSFS2024 Native version.

Parallel 42 will release updates progressively, starting with utilities, followed by vehicles, and finally scenery. The developer plans to update 30 out of its 37 products to become either Native or Compatible versions for MSFS2024. Special offers to update products to MSFS2024 Native versions will be available for users who own every Parallel 42 product or bundled offerings such as FF/F2 Complete.
Parallel 42 is committed to keeping its MSFS2024 compatibility dashboard updated, where it will post the progress of each product. The developer has also clarified that, even though some of its products may appear in the MSFS2024’s Marketplace, they are not yet ready for use.
