PhotoRico have released their rendition of Isla Grande Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator. More well known as Fernando Luis Ribas Dominicci Airport, it is the busiest general aviation airport in the West Indies. Developers, PhotoRico have released a highly detailed recreation of the airport with high quality textures, detailed ramps, Pan American Cruise Port and much more.
About Isla Grande Airport (TJIG)
Isla Grande Airport is an airport in Isla Grande, a district in San Juan. The airport is owned by the Puerto Rico Authority and is found next to the Puerto Rico Convention Centre, San Juan Bay and the Pan American Cruise Ship Terminal. The activity at the airport is mostly general aviation, however, it is still a commercial airport.
Handling general aviation and international and domestic flights, the airport also hosts the Puerto Rico Army National guard Aviation headquarters. UH-60 helicopters are operated from these headquarters. Isla Grande is the biggest general aviation airport in the West indies. It offers world-class facilities to handle larger corporate jets.
Several flight schools and the Puerto Rico Rapid Response Police Unit can also be found at this airport. It is serviced by numerous regional airlines and other seasonal charters. Isla Grande offers flights to the Virgin Islands and the Dominican Republic.
PhotoRico’s Isla Grande Airport for MSFS
PhotoRico have recreated Isla Grande to best represent how it looks and operates in its current state. Featuring a high-detail recreation of TJIG with high-detail airport facilities and HD textures. The airport has had its terminal interior modelled to match its real-life counterpart down to the very small details. It also features modelled hybrid fences and detailed ground textures.
In addition to the main terminal, the developers have also modelled numerous other buildings and features around the airport. The Puerto Rick Convention Centre, Crowley Cargo Docks, Main terminal car park, Pan American Cruise Port and the Palo Seco Power Generation Plant are among some of these modelled. Improvements have been made to the Viejo San Juan shoreline.
For helicopter pilots, the developers have also included a detailed Army Ramp and helicopter dollies throughout each GA Ramp. The HeliTours Pad on the San Juan islet side of the bay has also been modelled for use in the simulator. The developers have modelled and recreated Isla Grande Airport as close as possible to its real-life counterpart.
