PMDG 777 Freighter in Beta, New Update for 777-300ER

PMDG’s Robert Randazzo has taken to the PMDG Forums again to talk us through the recent happenings in the PMDG team. This includes the fact that the 777 Freighter version is now in beta testing, and there is a new update for the current Boeing 777-300ER for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Update for the 777-300ER

The update for the 777-300ER is quite large and mostly focuses on fixing incorrect things in the add-on. This includes model geometry of both the external and internal models. In the virtual cockpit, improvements are visible on the window shades, button geometry and there are no floating screws anymore.

Regarding the systems, engine start controls and the N1 vs N2 relation were fixed. Modulated thrust on go-around has been fixed as well and thrust modes during flight should have a more realistic behaviour.

The sounds were improved as well, and this includes the flap lever raise and drop, which should be louder now, speed brake sounds are now audible in the cockpit and the external engine roar was adjusted, too.

Focus on the 777 Freighter

The 777 Freighter variant went to the beta testing last week, and is, according to Robert, progressing well. He mentioned that the current is a bit more advanced than it could have been. This is namely due to the team resolving the corruption issue in the 777-300ER development, giving the team a head start with the Freighter variant.

However, there are still some “game-play” items that need to be resolved. This namely includes cargo, which is still not to the team’s standard. Thus, a few more beta versions should take place before the official release happens.

Lastly, Robert mentions at the end of the post that a large development update regarding Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is upon us, where he wants to disclose development information about the 737, 777 and the 747 as well.
