PMDG Shares New Update Before FSExpo

PMDG’s Robert Randazzo has again shared some news about the PMDG’s development process, just before the FSExpo starts this week. He has covered a number of topics, including the 737 NG series for MSFS 2024, the DC-6, the 747 and the completion of the 777 Series for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The post started off with an update for the current 777 Series for both Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024. These updates do not include any major changes, and are mostly focused on cleaning up some things in the aircraft series, which is important to be fixed before the 777 Series is pushed to the Marketplace.

However, the 777-200LR, the upcoming aircraft in the 777 Series to be released, has entered its beta stage and has now matured a bit. Randazzo mentions that the beta testing cycle on this aircraft should not take long. Release during the start of July is expected, likely somewhere between the first and the ninth of July.

The 737 NG Series for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will start its development right after the 777-200LR is released. This rework of the 737 NG series should bring improvements to the visual model, and additional features will be included that were developed during the life-cycle of the 777, which has year long as of now, and brought a load of missing features to the PMDG’s portfolio. This means that the 737 Series will be brought on par with the quality of the 777 Series soon. In the coming weeks, the first previews of the 737 in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 should be shown.

As most of the PMDG’s focus is now on the 737 and the 777, Robert Randazzo has intentionally stopped previewing the 747 fleet and its progress. However, that should change during FSExpo 2025, which starts this Friday. Speaking of the DC-6, the team currently holds off bringing it to the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 due to the development of the 777 and the 737 as well. The DC-6 currently has some level of detail issues that need to be resolved by the Microsoft and PMDG teams.

Last week, FSElite reported on the appearance of the 737 MAX product page on the PMDG website, and that appearance made people speculate on possible PMDG 737 MAX previews by the team during FSExpo. Robert had a word on this in the latest post, mentioning that the development of this aircraft is currently on hold. This should change over the next few months.

Robert also mentioned that this “placeholder” website was used for testing, and does not mean that the team is preparing for a release of a new aircraft without announcing it. The website has been live since May and has now been taken down.
