PMDG Issues Major Updates of Released Planes, 747 in Development, 777F Soon to Enter Beta

Robert Randazzo of the PMDG team has taken to their forums to introduce the recently released updates for the DC-6, 737 and 777. Further to that, Randazzo also confirmed that the 777 Freighter is planned to enter beta soon.

Update of the 777-300ER

The most recent update, 2.00.39 is focused on stability improvements based on customer feedback. The team aims to fix all the issues that came around with the Sim Update 15 and weekly fixes are going to be issued for this aircraft.

The most notable feature is that you can update your aircraft Navigraph Navdata via the Universal Flight Tablet. This is the first time any aircraft in the flight simulator history has seen such a Navigraph update system. This is not the only update done to the UFT. In addition, there have been QR codes added, that will lead the pilots to any aircraft documentation they need.

Going into the minor details of this update, PMDG improved the sound volume in relation to airspeed and altitude, as well as loud engine buzz in cruise. The APU sounds were improved in the cabin as well. More minor fixes have been done to the aircraft systems, too.

Aircraft geometry and textures received some updates as well, and the glareshield issue, where it clipped through the fuselage is no longer present. There have been improvements to the powerful GE90 engines, the strobe lights behaviour, flaps and much more.

Updates for the 737 Series

A series of updates have been pushed out to the PMDG 737 Series, too, as many of you might have noticed. These updates do not have clean change logs, though. The updates primarily focus on stability improvements that are already present in the 777. This should eliminate any freezes that happened with the 737 after Sim Update 15 was released.

The updates are also focused on performance optimisations, that came in a few issue fixes. This is because the team found major issues with the base code during the 777 development, and they are now bringing those base code fixes to this Boeing short-hauler as well.

More updates should come to the 737 Series as the team continues to cut down any issues with the 777-300ER. In the next couple of months, the 737 should also see an update of its navigation data system, bringing it to the latest PMDG standard.

The community has also been asking about the 737 MAX series for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Robert Randazzo confirmed that the team has no information to be shared with the community at the moment.

Update for the DC-6

Lastly, the PMDG team also pushed updates to its DC-6 aircraft. This update mostly focuses on texture cleanup in the cockpit, which should improve the readability of minor details on the panel, like gauges.

PMDG 747 Now in Development, 777F in Beta Testing

The most major information in this development update has to be about the 777 Freighter being in beta testing and the 747 being in development.

Speaking of the Boeing 747, this has been in development since of January 2024 and its development is progressing fast. However, the PMDG team aims to bring more groundbreaking features to their flagship aircraft. As the project progresses, more progressive updates on the Queen of The Skies should come.

Robert Randazzo also spoke about the next 777 variant for the first time, about the 777 Freighter. This is the team’s main focus and they aim the 777 Freighter to enter beta testing soon. Despite that, the PMDG team is yet uncertain whether the first next variant of the 777 is going to be 777-200LR, 200ER or the 777 Freighter. This is going to be confirmed soon.
