PMDG Updates DC-6 for MSFS

Robert from PMDG has earlier this month taken to the PMDG forums to announce the release of an update for their highly-anticipated rendition of an McDonnel Douglas DC-6 for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The update promises to improve performance as well as user-friendliness and usability of the addon based on the feedback provided by the customers and the community.

Bringing the aircraft to build 2.00.0028, the update as well improves tablet click spots for better tablet usability during your flights, brings more LOD model and cabin refinements for more immersive visual experience, and improves aircraft performance while the realistic engine damage mode is on.

Robert additionally addressed issues some users had with the aircraft installer not working as it should, and liveries not installing properly. This was said to be caused by the simulator using longer pathnames after moving it from its original location, which then resulted in DC-6 files having paths longer than 260 characters – Windows limit.

We nailed this problem down after a tremendous amount of research and coordination with affected customers and discovered that some users have moved the installation location of MSFS using guidance provided by Microsoft themselves, along with an application moving tool. This tool does HORRIFIC things to the path names (..)

The update can be downloaded through the PMDG Operations Center free of charge for existing owners of the addon. If you want to purchase the addon, you can do so through the PMDG website for $54.99 or about €46.40.
