POSCON Software Out of Beta, Details Future Plans

Andrew Heath of POSCON has recently taken to their forums to announce software updates and future plans. As Andrew himself commented, the post was focused largely on the technology behind the organization.

The post broke over a year-long silence. Andrew detailed: “Thankfully that long arduous development journey has come to an end and users will be able to benefit from our hard work.“.

After assuring that POSCON is not dead, Andrew has described that the team has worked on completely reworking the voice system. This action was decided as they considered it to be essential to sustain the projected growth.

That activity, fortunately, occupied only one developer while others could focus on other aspects of the systems. These include, for example, performance optimizations, upgrades to radio behaviour, and various UI improvements and new features.

However, as for the biggest change, the Launcher Client is now out of beta testing. Thus, currently on version 1.0.0. The backend of the application was updated to be built on the latest .NET framework and also improved to download updates from a new cloud. Resulting in faster download speeds.

As far as the future plans go, Andrew confirmed that they would like to make a unified launcher client which would replace all current POSCON applications in one place. This is expected for the version 2.0.0 release.

The over a year-long silence was explained to be because of two reasons. The first of them is the POSCON team not wanting to overhype their product, and the second is the “copying problem“.

Andrew wrote on that note: “No, I am not referring to the people who like to pirate software (and yes, that is a problem too). What I am referring to the issue of other developers/networks (you know who you are) taking our great ideas and benefiting from them.“.

At the very end of the post, Andrew wished everyone a happy holiday and mentioned that the POSCON team has big plans for the upcoming year, 2022.
