Review: DCS: F/A-18C Hornet

Eagle Dynamics released their very first version of F/A-18C Hornet for DCS World back in 2018 and from that point, it has been one of the most detailed airplanes in DCS. We got the chance to review this product and we would like to say thank you to Eagle Dynamics for making this possible.

F/A-18C Hornet is a twin engine multi-role fighter, mainly used by United States Navy. F/A-18C Hornet can also operate from aircraft carriers.

Design and Flight Model

In general F/A-18C Hornet is an exact replica of the real aircraft, but still from my point of view, comparing to the F-16C, modelling of the F-16C is small bit better. F/A-18C Hornet was modelled with high focus on details as well, you can apply remove before flight sign or engine covers when on ground. Massive landing gear looks very solid as well, you can several screenshots below.

Flight model again very good. Aircraft feels like a part of your body. You can perform crazy formation flights with loops, barrel rolls and other stuff without any issues.

Cockpit

Cockpit is the best part of the entire aircraft. It was exhaustively researched by Eagle Dynamics and it paid off. Many details and overall modelling is amazing. It is an interactive cockpit with 6 degrees of freedom.

Systems

Realistic weapons system is included as well. You will definitely enjoy air-to air and air-to-ground weapons and procedures related to them. Weapons system isn’t that complicated so I bet you won’t have any problems learning it. Everything works as it should. Fuel, electrical and hydraulic systems are fully simulated as well.

If you don’t want to start the aircraft yourself and just fly straight away, you can always use the auto-start feature.

Conclusion

Another Eagle Dynamics aircraft which is really worth it. As mentioned earlier, cockpit, flight model and all systems are the best parts of F/A-18C Hornet.

You can purchase F/A-18C Hornet for DCS World for $79.99 or for DCS World Steam Edition for 68,62€.
