SayIntentions has announced that they are shutting down its attempt to bring a free version of SayIntentions.AI to the community. OpenSky had been running for several months, but on the 31st of August, the developers will be shutting down the free service.
What Was OpenSky by SayIntentions?
OpenSky was originally released as a beta program offering free AI ATC services from SayIntentions. It was described as the “free ultralight version” of their full, premium SayIntenions.AI service, but only offering ATC. OpenSky was designed to give users a preview of what to expect in the full premium version of SayIntenions.AI, with a 24-hour free trial offered with the beta.
It featured unscripted AI ATC with gate-to-gate IFR and was fully voice-controlled. It came with premium AI voices and authentic phrasing. However, as it was offered for free, response times were slower and the model was less intelligent. It offered none of the other products by SayIntentions, such as multiplayer, AI cabin crew or SkyOps.

As the service was free, there was no profit to be made from continuing to maintain the model alongside their other products. They had hoped the model price would decrease over time; however, this did not happen, and so it became unsustainable. All beta testers will receive a lifetime 10% discount on their premium subscription as a thank-you.
SayIntentions plans to shut down the service on August 31st, with AI ATC only being available via their premium subscription service. They still plan to make SkyNet, their replacement multiplayer system for MSFS, free in the future. For previous SayIntentions.AI news, read here on FSNews.
