ShortFinal Design released a new add-on for the X-Plane 12, the San Jose International Airport. It is the first rendition of this airport created for the newest version of the X-Plane flight simulator.

About The San Jose Airport
San José Mineta International Airport (IATA: SJC, ICAO: KSJC, FAA LID: SJC), officially known as Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport, is a city-owned public airport in San Jose, California. Situated three miles (4.8 km) northwest of Downtown San Jose, the airport serves both the city and the broader Santa Clara Valley region within the greater San Francisco Bay Area.
Despite San Jose being the largest city in the Bay Area, SJC ranks as the second-busiest airport in the region by passenger boarding, following San Francisco International Airport. In 2021, the airport saw a significant portion of its traffic handled by Southwest Airlines, which accounted for 54% of all passengers. Alaska Airlines followed as the second most popular carrier, serving about 19% of the airport’s passengers. The airport connects passengers with many airports in the United States, Mexico, and with Tokyo-Narita airport.

About The Add-On
SFD’s rendition of San Jose International Airport includes a detailed and accurate layout reflecting the airport as of 2024. All buildings are modeled with baked ambient occlusion, and the terminals feature fully modeled interiors. The general aviation area includes several hangar interiors, and PBR materials are used on objects and ground surfaces.
Custom dynamic night lighting and high-resolution pavement textures and markings contribute to the realism. The ground has high-resolution photo scenery with a 30cm per pixel level of detail. The package is compatible with any mesh scenery and includes surrounding structures like the PayPal Park stadium.

The airport is animated, with cars, buses, passengers, and workers moving throughout the area. Custom-animated airport vehicles feature PBR materials and FMOD sounds. Detailed animated jetways integrate with the SAM plugin, and various hangar doors can be user-controlled, also requiring the SAM plugin.
ShortFinal Design San Jose International Airport is available at the x-plane.org store for $22.95
