Skyline Simulations has today came to their social networks to announce the release of their Gibraltar Airport (LXGB) scenery for X-Plane 11. The scenery has been originally announced a year and a half ago, and the developers did a good job of keeping the community updated about the development.
Not only does the scenery feature animated road traffic crossing the runway, but also PBR implementation, thousands of 3D custom objects, animated marshallers, hand-crafted Rock of Gibraltar, or 4K custom textures, for example. The complete feature list can be found below.
It has been confirmed in the Facebook post, that the scenery will be converted to the Microsoft Flight Simulator and Prepar3D in the future. When should we expect that to happen is unclear, however, it was mentioned, that the Samos Airport (LGSM) will be coming next, and is not far away. That scenery will also be available for X-Plane, MSFS, and Prepar3D.
Gibraltar International Airport (LXGB) is the only airport serving the British overseas territory of Gibraltar. It is most-known for its runway which is crossed by a road and checked for debris each takeoff and landing. The airport is served only by three airlines: British Airways, easyJet and Royal Air Maroc Express. In 2019, almost 500 thousand passengers visited the airport.
If you want to purchase the scenery, you can do so via the Skyline Simulations website for €23.90. The scenery should be available at the X-Plane.org Store in about a week.
