The SoFly development team has today announced the first scenery of a major airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator. After the recent release of Skopje Airfields, the team is going to take a closer look at Cardiff International Airport.
The airport is located in Wales and is the only major airport offering passenger flights in Wales. It was opened in 1942 and was also used as a military airfield. It was abandoned after the war and resumed operations again in 1952, with an Aer Lingus Service to Ireland’s capital, Dublin.

Nowadays, Cardiff Airport is equipped with a single 2300-metre-long runway, a single passenger terminal and a general aviation terminal. The airport is known for its challenging approach due to the strong, turbulent winds coming from the uneven terrain in front of runway 30.
Currently, Cardiff Airport is mostly served by TUI on seasonal flights during summer to destinations such as Agadir, Antalya, Dubrovnik or Rhodes. There are also all-year-long connections to cities like Amsterdam with KLM, Belfast with Aer Lingus, Dublin with Ryanair or Edinburgh with Loganair. Annually, the airport transports approximately 1 million passengers.

SoFly promises to bring the most detailed rendition of this airport to date for Microsoft Flight Simulator. So far, the developer only mentioned that the airport is going to include an animated hangar, full GSX compatibility and highly detailed 3D models, covered in detailed textures.
Moreover, the scenery is set to release next Thursday via the iniBuilds and SoFly stores.
