SoFly opened its FlightSimExpo 2025 seminar with the announcement that TerraBuilder’s Kennedy Space Center V2 is now ready for launch for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. The add-on made by SoFly’s partner. This updated version expands on the original release by introducing fully animated launch sequences, dynamic ground operations, and enhanced visual effects that simulate rocket launches
This is an updated version of Kennedy Space Center V1. In the new version, users can observe rockets being transported to the pad by tracked crawler systems, accompanied by animated support convoys, and initiate liftoff using an interactive in-sim launch panel. Once the countdown begins, a sequence of flame effects, smoke plumes, and realistic roll-pitch flight trajectories unfold in real-time.

The key features include an era selection tool allowing users to switch between the Apollo, Shuttle, and Artemis/SpaceX programs, each with corresponding vehicles, infrastructure, and layouts. Structures such as the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) and Pads 39A and 39B are recreated with detailed 3D models, while ground activity includes animated convoys, transporters, and crew operations. The visual effects have also been updated to include multiple smoke variations and cinematic launch visuals. The product is available as a free update for existing customers and is fully compatible with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.
Located on Merritt Island in Florida, the Kennedy Space Center is NASA’s primary launch site for human spaceflight. It has served as the departure point for historic missions such as Apollo 11 and every Space Shuttle launch. The facility houses extensive infrastructure including launch complexes, the VAB, and mission control centers, and continues to support both government and commercial missions under NASA’s Artemis program and private providers like SpaceX. Its complex operations, iconic structures, and role in space exploration make it a significant site not just for aerospace history, but also as a popular subject within flight simulation.

Kennedy Space Center V2 brings this real-world location into the simulator environment with features aimed at replicating both its past and present launch operations. With real-time interactivity, visual enhancements, and historical flexibility through the era selector, the update offers users a functional and detailed recreation of the site. More updates and support information are expected to follow as users explore the release.
