The Northrop T-38A Talon has been released for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, developed by the well-known flight simulator developer Blackbird Simulations. The aircraft has been brought into the sim as a part of the simulators’ Famous Flyer series.
About the T-38A Talon
Developed by American aircraft company Northrop, the T-38A is a twin-engine military jet used for training pilots. It is a two-seater jet with a max range of 1,140 miles and a ceiling of 55,000 feet, reaching top speeds of up to 829mph when at sea level and Mach 1.3 at 30,000 feet.

Northrop produced the T-38 between 1961 and 1972, with it becoming the first supersonic trainer jet and the most produced. Over 1000 T-38s were built, with its first flight taking place on the 10th April 1959. Its history traces back to the N-102 Fang, a concept for a high-performance, lightweight fighter proposed to the United States Air Force in 1952.

Over its lifespan, the T-38 trained thousands of pilots with the T-38A trainer, the AT-38B weapons trainer, the modernised T-38C, and the T-38N built for NASA. It measures 46 feet in length, 12 feet in height and has a wingspan of 25 feet. With more than 1000 produced, just over 500 remain in service within the USAF.
The T-38A Talon in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
Developed by Blackbird Simulations, the aircraft features a tandem cockpit, accurate systems reflective of its real-life counterpart and a flight model designed to mimic the real-world performance of the T-38A Talon, such as its impressive climb rates and supersonic speeds. Its textures and modelling have been made to represent the aircraft as accurately as possible.

It’s been released with a selection of liveries to represent many of the real-world operators of the T-38A Talon. The aircraft also has some intractable parts on the outside of the jet while in walkaround mode, allowing you to interact with the external power, the canopy handle and an intractable ladder to enter the aircraft from walkaround mode.
You can purchase the T-38A on the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 in-game marketplace for $14.99, and it is supported on both PC and console. For news on previous aircraft from the MSFS Famous Flyer Series, read here on FSNews.
