The developer TaiModels has released the first payware scenery for Cairo International Airport (HECA) for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Announcing the release on its Facebook page, it also marks the developer’s first scenery on the African continent.
Introduction to Cairo International Airport
Cairo International Airport is the largest international hub in Egypt, serving the capital city and is the tourist gateway to the Pyramids of Giza and the historic region of the Nile Delta. The airport serves as a primary hub for the largest airline, Egyptair, Nile Air, Air Cairo and other major carriers.
Currently, Cairo International Airport is operated by three different terminals, with Terminal 1 being the oldest, inaugurated in the 1960s. This terminal is mostly used by large carriers, such as KLM and Air France. Egyptair operates all of its flights, including all the Star Alliance members from Terminal 3. Terminal 2, though, serves for European, Gulf and East Asian airlines, and is operating jointly with Terminal 3.

The airport has many modern features, such as a people mover, an authentic airport entrance, a hotel and three asphalt runways.
Cairo International Airport is connected to various major international hubs and regional airports in Egypt. From this airport, you can connect to Egyptian destinations like Hurghada, Sharm-el-Sheikh, Marsa Alam or Alexandria and even New York JFK, Osaka, Beijing, Rome, Vienna and even Johannesburg.
About TaiModels’ Scenery
TaiModels created a detailed scenery of this major international hub, with hand-made and detailed ground markings and textures with PBR, that accurately resemble the current airport’s state. The terminals are also hand-made and are all covered in PBR materials.

PBR is then enhanced by custom airport lighting, improving the feel of reflections. Despite that, the scenery is still well-optimised according to the developer.
Those who enjoy ground operations the most are going to be happy to hear that the airport is recreated based on the most recent airport layout, with custom jetways included.
If you would like to get this scenery, you can purchase it via the Simmarket web store for € 25.79. To learn more about TaiModels and how their work is, you can read our review of the developer’s recreation of Oslo Gardermoen Airport here.
