TFDi Design has released a fresh batch of previews highlighting the latest progress on their MD-11 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. The new images, posted to their Discord server earlier this week, showcase major improvements to the external model, including new landing gear, refined wings, engines, and the iconic tail section. While some final tweaks to the gear are ongoing, TFDi confirms the overhaul is nearly complete and “very close” to release.

TFDi Progress Since September

The update follows a detailed development note from last September, where the TFDi team outlined an extensive plan to rework both the exterior and interior art, alongside ongoing bug fixes and feature improvements. According to TFDi, the scope of the artwork overhaul has grown to include major structural changes to the tail, new engine geometry, more detailed windows, and the addition of missing ports and details.

TFDi had already previewed the new wing modelling back on June 6th and previously showed off the GE and PW (EPR) engine variants in early May. This has underlined the dual-engine support and depth of modelling for this add-on that TFDi Design is working on.

Early Access

As a reminder, the TFDi Design MD-11 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 is still in its Early Access phase, nearly a year after launch. Development has been steady, with frequent updates, now at version 1.0.79. They have delivered a long list of new features, fixes, and improvements across the product, from major systems and flight model enhancements to usability and avionics updates. The TFDi Design MD-11 is offered in two separate base-packs: freighter and passenger. These can be purchased individually or combined.

Very Close to the Finish Line

While no firm release date has been given, TFDi’s messaging is clear: “We’re very close folks.”. The team stresses that active work is ongoing across multiple fronts, and that the MD-11 remains a top priority even as some developers contribute to other projects within TFDi.

You can follow the latest on the TFDi MD-11 in our previous coverage. The TFDi design MD-11 is available for purchase in Early Access via the TFDi Design website. As always, we’ll share updates as soon as the developers make them available.
