Top Mach Studios Releases Long Awaited B-2 Spirit Bomber

Top Mach Studios, a developer known for their F-22 Raptor fighter, announced the release of the B-2 Spirit.

A bomber well known for its unique “Flying Wing” design, the team at Top Mach Studios faced many challenges in bringing the Spirit over to the simulation world. An airframe still shrouded mostly in secrecy, the team at Top Mach Studios pulled all available information they could to create as close to an accurate model as possible, to ensure the best sim experience they could. Sources include B-2 maintainers, pilots, and real-world footage of the airframe. All of this granted, is maintained within the scope of operational security.

Along with the announcement, the Top Mach Studios team showcased the aircraft in a trailer on their YouTube channel. Throughout the trailer, only exterior views of the plane were presented which showed a high level of detail that went into the modeling of the Spirit’s exterior.

The B-2 Spirit colloquially known as the “Stealth Bomber” is a low profile, low observability heavy strategic bomber within the inventory of the United States Airforce. Designed for high-altitude attack missions up to 50,000 feet with the capability to penetrate deep into enemy airspace, this airframe utilizes special materials to absorb and scatter radar.

The team at Top Mach Studios appears to have placed a lot of work into this project based on their release announcement. This add-on is packed with features to make for an immersive experience when flying the B-2.

The attention to detail does not just stop at the modeling. Working with Echo19 Audio, the team also ensured that the immersive experience continued with the sounds. By adding highly realistic sounds from the B-2’s General Electric F118-GE-100 engines, the simmer gets to experience the excitement of the sounds of the B-2’s flyovers. The interior was covered as well with major system sounds, and aural alerts getting close attention.

From within the electronic flight bag, there are a few options that allow you to display ground equipment such as scaffolds, air start carts, munitions loaders, and fire extinguishers. You can also choose to display the pilots and remove before flight tags within the EFB.

The add-on also includes:

  • Custom Programmed Simulated Fly-By-Wire control system for virtually carefree flight control
  • Precision, stable high-altitude flight control to 50,000 feet and above.
  • Realistic control response and โ€œfeelโ€ throughout the flight envelope
  •  Penetration Mode with Differential Thrust Control
  • Highly detailed modeling and texturing of the cockpit, rear cabin, crew entry area, all control panels, and interior detailing developed with careful attention to real-world reference photographs.
  • Fully Functional MFDs (using fully customized instrumentation suite) including critical aircraft information displays, FLIR simulation, crew alerting system alerts, customized tactical top-down radar type display, fuel management, electrical system status, etcโ€ฆ
  • FLIR (forward-looking infra-red) simulation using synthetic vision display with instrument overlays for night and low visibility flying
  • Highly functional and customized Flight Management Computer (MCDU) module with many features and functions for flight planning, instrument flight, navigation, and communication

A more detailed list can be found on Top Mach Studios’ website. The B-2A Spirit add-on can be purchased within the MSFS marketplace for USD 39.99.
