TropicalSim Releases Rio De Janeiro for MSFS

South American developer, TropicalSim, have announced the release of Rio De Janeiro’s Santos Dumont Airport (SBRJ) for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Using the new simulator’s FlightSim materials and native glTF models, the developers have produced this Brazilian airport in such high detail. It integrates seamlessly into the Microsoft Flight Simulator’s scenery while providing night and dynamic lighting, realistic window effects, functional animated jetways, and an extended taxiway. It even includes a shopping mall that was once the headquarters of the airline companies, VARIG and VASP.

The Santos Dumont Airport, named after a famous aviation pioneer, is Rio de Janeiro’s second major airport. The location of the airport is said to be problematic due to its proximity to Sugarloaf Mountain, which can make approaches to runways 02L and 02R difficult.
