Orbx releases TrueEarth Great Britain Central region, which completes the Great Britain TrueEarth trifecta for X-Plane 12. With this addition, Orbx has created a completely custom region spanning more than 100,000 square miles.
Orbx’s TrueEarth lineup for X-Plane 11 is renowned for its attention to detail and sheer landmass coverage. The TrueEarth series aims to improve the default texture and terrain mapping within the X-Plane 12 world. This involves correcting the oftentimes rough jigsawing of the aerial imagery used as the base layer for terrain generation by hand. Additionally, 3D trees with individual heights set by terrain topography improve the environmental texturing. Other changes and additions by Orbx include upgraded water masking, soundscape support with birds and vehicles, and a system for realistic adjustments to the terrain due to changes in seasonal weather.
TrueEarth Great Britain Central includes custom modeling for major metropolitan areas such as Liverpool, Manchester, and Newcastle. Buildings within these cities have been corrected for location and height using topographical information. Orbx has also included completely custom-modeled landmarks such as bridges, skyscrapers, piers, castles, and monuments that significantly improve the quality of the skyline for these major cities. The rich history of the region is faithfully recreated with custom models for historical castles and cathedrals. Orbx has included hundreds of these POIs in regions surrounding Bangor, Caernarfon, Cumbria, Northumbria, and Yorkshire.
Great Britain Central is a popular VFR environment. Orbx has made an effort to accurately place countless VFR landmarks, such as masts, wind farms, churches, power lines, and lighthouses. Similarly, attention has been paid to the terrain mesh in complex areas such as beaches and hills to ensure a stunning level of detail. Additionally, the entire road and rail network spanning the region is accurately recreated and blended into the aerial imagery with moving left-hand drive traffic.
