VATSIM Velocity Releasing January 31st

VATSIM Velocity is going to be a new chapter of the network. It even promises to be the future of online flight simulation by offering users low latency, high precision position tracking and unrivalled performance.

Current VATSIM updates aircraft positions once every five seconds. VATSIM Velocity is going to bring that down to five times every second. That represents exactly 20 milliseconds between each position update.

Today, VATSIM has live-streamed the official announcement trailer of Velocity as well as given the community more details about the new chapter of the network.

At the end of the trailer, the team at VATSIM has revealed the release date of the new VATSIM Velocity. We can expect VATSIM Velocity to release publicly for everyone on January 31st 2022 at 22:00 UTC – this Monday.

The network will be taken offline for about 30 to 45 minutes to apply the update. All members who wish to connect afterwards will have to update their clients to the latest versions available.

If you’re using xSquawkbox to connect to the network, you should install the latest beta build of xPilot before the update if you wish to connect to the network after the 31st of January.
