The WF Scenery Studio version of Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator has been released, the developer announced that on their Facebook page.
The add-on includes several features designed to enhance the virtual airport environment. The airport surfaces, including buildings and ground markings, use PBR textures. Animated jetways operate at the airport gates, and dynamic lighting adjusts to various lighting conditions. Custom ground markings are implemented throughout the taxiways and runways. Manually placed vehicles simulate airport operations, and an animated airport train adds movement around the terminal areas.
About Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport
Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport is one of two primary airports serving Shanghai, located 13 kilometers west of the city center. It primarily handles domestic and regional flights, while also servicing select international destinations, including Seoul-Gimpo, Taipei-Songshan, and Tokyo-Haneda.
The airport serves as the corporate headquarters and hub for China Eastern Airlines, Shanghai Airlines, and Juneyao Air, and is also a significant hub for Spring Airlines. In 2016, Hongqiao Airport handled over 40 million passengers, making it one of the busiest airports in China. The airport received Skytrax’s 5-Star Rating in 2019 for its facilities and service.
Although Shanghai Pudong International Airport has taken over most of the international operations since its completion in 1999, Hongqiao remains a key hub for domestic and regional connectivity.
The Shanghai Hongqiao Airport scenery by WF Scenery Studio is available for purchase on the Microsoft Flight Simulator Marketplace for USD 23.99.
