Laminar Research have announced that their latest version of X-Plane for mobile devices is now available.
This version, officially called X-Plane Mobile with Global Scenery, commonly shortened to ‘Glo-Mo’ has been under development for a while and brings the entire world scenery to a mobile device as well as bringing the code-base of the mobile and desktop version closer together. The app lets the user download just the scenery for the route to avoid high storage and data requirements on their phones or tablet device.
Featuring over 37,000 airports, more than 11,500 being in 3D, there should be no shortage of places to fly to for the virtual pilot on the go!
It is currently available on iOS and Android from their respective stores. Cost of the base app is free but with in-app purchases for extra aircraft outside the two default included (Cessna 172SP and Cirrus Vision SF50).
Users will have to pay for a monthly or annual subscription for scenery, however 5 areas are provided free of charge.
- Oahu, Hawaii
- Grand Canyon
- Seattle, Washington
- Juneau, Alaska
- Innsbruck, Austria
Check out the app store for download instructions and the X-Plane website for more details.
