XPRealistic – Is it worth the money?

XPRealistic is a utility plugin which is basically adding more real feeling to your game. Especially sounds and headshake effect. Before I get to the review I would like to say thank you to XPRealistic developers for giving us a free license so we can do this review.

Sounds

XPRealistic is a great sound modifier. If I should judge the quality of the sounds, they could be better, but from the default sounds its huge improvement worth the €. The plugin includes redesigned engine sounds, interior sounds and exterior sounds.

Headshake

Why should I buy this plugin featuring headshake for 20€ if there is a freeware headshake plugin? It’s simple since I tried both of them (freeware & XPRealistic) I would say, that XPRealistic headshake is a huge improvement from the freeware one. Generally, the headshake feels more realistic, it’s corresponding with the plane more than the freeware version.

Planeshake?

By planeshake, I mean plane vibrations 🙂 Which is XPRealistic also adding to the game. When you’re taking off, the plugin gives the plane real “takeoff feeling”. Same with the landing and flight generally. The plane feels more alive.

Head adjustment

By head adjustment I mean the head rotation corresponding to plane angle. I think that this is a really great feature since it’s adding that plane movement effect. As you can see below it basically behaves more like a real human head. In default, the head would stay in the default position and in low visibility you wouldn’t even know that the plane is changing directions. With XPRealistic the head rotates with the plane.

Conclusion

In my opinion, XPRealistic is that kind of plugin which is not 100% necessary to have, but having it adds a nice feeling to the game. If I should rate it from 0 to 10 I would give it an 8. The reason why I took away those 2 points is that some sounds might have better quality and I would maybe appreciate more settings, but that is just a detail. Why do I think it’s a detail? Because the sounds in the current state are already good, so, that’s why I think it’s just a detail.
