A2A Simulations has announced on its forum the release of version 1.0 of the Piper Aerostar 600 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, marking the end of a three-month Early Access programme. This was the first Early Access release by A2A, featuring weekly updates and community feedback throughout the development process. The developer described the experience as stressful but rewarding, hoping to have demonstrated how Early Access can be done right. A2A Simulations also confirmed the development of a MSFS 2020 version.

Version 1.0.0
The full-version release 1.0.0 brings several new features and fixes to the Aerostar. The update adds the Collins ANS-351 RNAV navigation unit and engine electric heaters for cold-weather procedures. Bug fixes include corrections to the VOR2 TO/FROM flags, propeller rotation angles for LOD01 and higher detail levels, and a rare freeze issue when switching EDM modes. The team has fixed problems with oil indication on the dipstick and corrected the cabin fresh air lever tooltip. Fuel selectors now use MSFS bindings for both fuel selector one two. Animation improvements cover oil caps, fuel caps and doors, making these movements smoother. Flight dynamics have been refined through tuned elevator authority, whilst the autopilot NAV mode now remains engaged when signal loss occurs. Checklist corrections and rearranged options have been added to the tablet. Additional fixes include icing effects that previously caused excessive rumbling and shaking beyond intended levels.

Development Roadmap
The developer noted that several features were not included in the current release, especially due to ongoing MSFS 2024 platform changes. The post-release development list includes visible passengers in the cockpit and a flour cargo option for additional hauling operations. A custom pushback user interface and multiplayer display checks will also be included. A2A Simulations also intends to make the addon compatible with Xbox and plans a Marketplace release for the aircraft.

MSFS 2020 Version Confirmed
Responding to community requests, A2A Simulations confirmed that an MSFS 2020 version of the Aerostar will be provided at no extra cost for owners of the MSFS 2024 version. Development is already underway, with the MSFS 2020 version set to include the full Accu-Sim fidelity and systems depth where MSFS 2020 supports it. However, some limitations of the MSFS 2020 may still apply, such as the walkaround functionality and dynamic dirt and wear visuals. The developer may release a light Early Access model for this version as well.
Future Projects
A2A Simulations intends to continue working on the Aerostar 600 in 2025 while preparing additional content. An Aerostar 600 livery pack is planned to give Xbox pilots greater visual variety, while the Comanche Livery Pack 1 is already available on the A2A Store and the in-game Marketplace for PC users. The developer is exploring the possibility of a Comanche Livery Pack 2 in the future. Once Aerostar development tasks are complete, A2A will move on to its next aircraft project, confirming only that it will be a brand-new aircraft type never before modelled by the developer.
The Aerostar 600 for MSFS 2024 is available from the A2A Store, with the MSFS 2020 version to be included free for all existing customers once development is complete.
