A2A Simulations Releases Legacy RG550 for MSFS2024

A2A Simulations took to their Facebook page to announce the release of their rendition of the Legacy RG550 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

A2A Simulations took to their Facebook page to announce the release of their rendition of the Legacy RG550 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Brought to life by Accu-Sim, A2A’s simulation engine, the developer teased the aircraft just a few days ago, while an in-depth update was provided just over a month ago.

About the Legacy RG550

The Lancair Legacy, a low-wing two-place retractable-gear composite monoplane, is a modernized version of the Lancair 320 manufactured by the American company Lancair. Also available as a fixed-gear version, the Legacy is a homebuilt aircraft available as a kit that costs roughly USD 75,000. The Legacy RG550 is the retractable landing gear version, which has a cruising speed of 276mph at 8,000 feet. In 2009, the Colombian Air Force ordered 25 Legacy FGs for use as basic training aircraft.

Key Features

The Legacy RG550 from A2A Simulations, powered by their Accu-Sim simulation engine, includes a wide array of sophisticated systems and simulation models. The RG550 features a physics-based external aerodynamics engine for realistic flight dynamics and is validated against real-world Legacy RG550 aircraft data. The developers have furthermore implemented a physics-based model of the IO-550-N engine,
simulating fuel injection, ignition, and wear. For further immersion, you can also dynamically swap the prop between six different types in real time.

Other Legacy RG550 features include dynamic ground physics encompassing true weight-on-wheels simulation; an authentic fuel system simulating fuel lines, crossfeed, and boost pumps; a dynamic oil simulation system; and an advanced starter simulation where you physically turn engines through compression cycles, with realistic starting challenges. The soundset contains over 1,500 dynamic sound effects, including engine rumble, hydraulic pumps, and cockpit interactions.

The external and internal modeling of the aircraft has also received significant love, and the team has included high-definition texture work with wear effects, dynamic registration decals, and custom animations. Various custom gauges, avionics, and GPS panel options have also been implemented by the team. Native MSFS2024 features are also included, such as the tablet, the walkaround mode, and more. The detailed release notes of the aircraft can be found here.

Closing Notes

A2A Simulations’ Accu-Sim-powered Legacy RG550 can be purchased on the A2A Simulations Store and retails for USD 49.99 without taxes. The team has also released a detailed user manual for simmers to skim through and learn how to fly the plane.
