Airfoillabs, a popular developer mainly known for VFR aircraft such as the Cessna 172 NG Analog, announced a new project for X-Plane, the Boeing 737 MAX. This will be the first payware product for this family of aircraft.
Airfoillabs Promises About Development
The developer is taking an open and transparent approach to their project by making every step of their development process visible to the X-Plane community. Through a dedicated “development progress hub” on X-Plane.org, they aim to foster an ongoing dialogue with their user base, involving them from the outset.
This hub will feature monthly updates on development progress, in-depth reports on specific systems and features, and regular posts of screenshots and video demos, allowing the community to track the advancements visually.
Additionally, they will maintain a clear roadmap and milestone tracking, with real-time progress indicators, to help users see how the project is progressing against set goals. Monthly roadmap reviews and adjustments ensure that the community has insight into planned developments and any adjustments that need to be made along the way.
They plan to release it in three parts. Firstly the Alpha Version “For Community Testers” will include core flight dynamics implementation, detailed 3D cockpit environment, basic systems modeling, and initial flight model tuning. After that Beta Version called “Systems Integration” will be released including comprehensive aircraft systems, advanced autopilot functionality, initial FMS implementation, and core systems integration. Lastly Version 1.0 “First Full Release” is to come which will include full systems integration, custom EFB, professional-grade sound environment, and complete documentation and manuals.
The developer also plans to do “Continuous Development” focusing on regular updates based on community feedback, enhanced functionality releases, ongoing systems refinement, and advanced feature implementations.
Currently, this is all we know Airfoillabs did not post any information about the aircraft variants included, pricing, or release timeline. However, if any of that information is revealed FSNews will keep you updated!
