AirFoilLabs Previews C172NG for X-Plane 11

First announced with great anticipation earlier this year in March, AirFoilLabs have a few days ago taken to their Facebook page to break the 7-month silence regarding the project and update the community on the development status of this study-level rendition of a Cessna 172 equipped with EVO G1000 navigation.

At the beginning of the post, the team at AirFoilLabs has summarized what will the new version of the aircraft all bring. Although some may think it will only feature different navigation systems, that’s far from being right.

The developers have been hard at work on the addon to offer a brand new 3D model, custom high-definition sounds integrated using FMOD, or an improved flight model for the best realism possible.

Further, once the aircraft is released, we should be able to see more functionalities in the left taskbar, and more ground equipment and static elements will also be available to better simulate winter ops.

We should also be able to enjoy a bigger variety of failures and emergency scenarios. In the most recent set of previews, a bird strike scenario was showcased.

The team at AirFoilLabs also got to a point in which they feel comfortable announcing a closer release date period. In this case, we can expect the addon release already this Fall. The price though remains unfortunately unknown. The same applies to any information regarding possible upgrade fees.

Alongside the EVO G1000 version of the aircraft, the developers are also working on an analog version of the aircraft which will be more modular offering users to incorporate other third-party avionics in the aircraft, like the RealityXP GTN 750. The analog version is expected to release in Spring 2022.

The developers have also additionally addressed X-Plane 12 confirming that they intend on supporting it in the future. No information was though given about what are the pricing conditions going to be for the future X-Plane 12 addons from AirFoilLabs.
