Axonos Releases Varna Airport for X-Plane 12

Earlier this month, developer Axonos announced through their Facebook page the release of Varna Airport (LBWN) scenery for X-Plane 12. This scenery was developed in partnership with AG simulations, with help from various members of VATSIM Bulgaria, BGvACC, and the Bulgarian Virtual Aviation event directors. It brings one of the biggest summer destinations in Eastern Europe into X-Plane 12.

Start Your Summer Holiday Early in Varna

Varna Airport (Летище Варна or Letishte Varna) is the third largest airport in Bulgaria. It serves the city of the same name and nearby towns such as Golden Sands, located on Bulgaria’s northeastern coast. Varna, a historic maritime city in Bulgaria, is now primarily a significant tourist destination in Eastern Europe. The airport is situated 10 km away from the city center, near the town of Aksakovo. While approaching runway 27, you can enjoy beautiful views of the Black Sea and the historic city.

The airport is operated by several airlines in Europe, including Ryanair, Lufthansa, Tui, and Wizz. Some airlines, such as Air Serbia, Eurowings, LOT, or Norwegian, offer seasonal flights. It also serves as a hub for the following airlines: BH Air, Bulgaria Air, European Air Charter, and Wizz Air.

Key Features of the Scenery

According to the scenery product page, this project was developed “with passion and accuracy,” bringing some experts from various online associations like VATSIM Bulgaria to ensure visual and operational accuracy in the airport. The Varna Airport scenery boasts custom 4K textures for the pavement and custom HDR night lighting. The airport layout and signs have been updated to ensure an accurate representation. You can find custom buildings and props on the airport apron. The scenery also includes animated marshallers and small details like oil and dirt spills.

This scenery for X-Plane 12 requires the SAM library before installation. Axonos confirmed that an X-Plane 11 compatible copy is available upon request. This scenery is available to purchase in the developer web store for $16.99. It is also available in SimMarket for €16.99 and ORBX for AUD$19.99.
