Black Square Starship is Set to Release This Month for MSFS

Nick Cyganski from Black Square has released a new update post on the Just Flight webpage. This post, titled “Big Starship News”, reveals new information and updates about the state of the Black Square Starship and other add-on aircraft from the developer for Microsoft Flight Simulator. One of the most significant pieces of information presented in this article is the release window for the Starship. Black Square also released a small trailer of this aircraft alongside its extensive manual in this article.

The Starship, according to Nick, has been a passion project of his. He talks in this post about how he went to record sounds from the real aircraft that will be implemented with this add-on. The sound recording session was revealed in a previous post that was performed with developer Working Title and Matt Nischan. This process took two days, with some photos taken for reference, and a talk with the owner of a real Starship.

With the development cycle of the Starship coming to an end, Black Square released the trailer for this aircraft. This trailer showcased multiple features that we can expect from this aircraft. The Electronic Flight Bag (EFB), the avionics, cabin, and exterior modeling were showcased in this video.

The reveal of the Starship finished with a zoom into a screen inside the cockpit. The screen has a text message revealing the release window of the Starship. Indeed, this aircraft will be released before FSExpo 2025 this month. A specific date has not been provided by the developer. This aircraft will be released for both MSFS 2020 and 2024. The manual of this aircraft has also been released by Black Square and can be found here.

Other Black Square News

The article posted by Nick consisted not only of new Starship information. The developer took the chance to talk about some of their other products coming to MSFS 2024. All the aircraft from Nick are being ported right now to MSFS 2024. However, Nick expressed how this is a complicated and time-consuming process. Since Sim Update 2, most of the systems have been broken to some degree, and other problems reported by the developer have not been fixed in the update. He also talked about difficulties with the new LOD system of MSFS 2024.

All the aircraft coming to MSFS 2024 will feature the native walkaround feature of MSFS 2024. Collisions with the aircraft in walkaround mode are going to be implemented. Nick will continue to work on this feature for the moment. Meanwhile, the developer confirmed that the Starship is the first aircraft that will be released for MSFS 2024. This will act as the model of the future add-ons from Black Square coming to this simulator. They also announced that their “professional series” of add-ons will be released during the second half of 2025. You can learn more about the “professional series” here.

The post finished with a small update about Black Square’s Real Taxiways add-on. The developer has returned to develop this add-on to implement it in MSFS 2024. It will also be available in the marketplace for both simulators. This add-on will include new features like new custom sign models and improved textures.

Nick finished this article announcing that he and other Black Square developers will be at FSExpo 2025 in Providence this year. You can approach them to talk about this release and answer questions about some of their future add-ons. Stay tuned for our future Starship article talking more about this add-on here at FSNews.
