BlueBird Simulations Addresses Rough 757 Launch, Details Upcoming Plans, and Customer-Only Discord

BlueBird Simulations outlines fixes for its Boeing 757 in MSFS, including an EFB sensitivity slider, Xbox controller support and a native 2024 version.

BlueBird Simulations has published a statement on social media about the state of its Boeing 757 for Microsoft Flight Simulator, setting out what the team plans to fix after a bumpy launch. The studio says its focus over the next several weeks will be bug fixes, followed by more attention to a native MSFS 2024 version of the aircraft. While compatible with MSFS 2024, the aircraft was developed for MSFS 2020, which leads to some compromises for MSFS 2024 users.

The developer says the team member who was in urgent care is feeling much better. It explains that the absence affected the whole release because the team is small and lacks the resources of a larger developer. It also describes the launch as “not a smooth release at all”, noting that its support provider ZenDesk crashed, leaving customers waiting for keys or unable to log in. The company says it is still having issues with ZenDesk and is going through support requests manually.

On the aircraft itself, BlueBird says it spent a lot of time tuning the flight model but acknowledges this did not suit every hardware setup. A sensitivity slider in the EFB will arrive with the upcoming patch. The same patch is meant to fix the aircraft’s current incompatibility with Xbox controllers. No release date was given for the patch. On the other hand, most texture improvements are planned for the native version, and will not be released as part of smaller patches.

A hotfix for the BBS NEST application, aimed at a memory leak, was released the day before the statement. BlueBird calls WASM and crash-to-desktop problems an ongoing process. It says the crashes might be related to Sim Update 7 but that it is too early to know. The team will also look at the engine parameters of the Pratt & Whitney variant. It notes that community mods exist for this but are unsupported and may affect FMS and autopilot behaviour. The company also asks customers to press the “buy now” button only once, because several people have placed duplicate orders. Those affected can email the BlueBird Simulations support.

In the comment section under the statement, the developer answered some questions from the community members. The company revealed that their Discord server, which was locked up before the release, will be unlocked again “eventually”, but for customers only. The developer has also confirmed that no PlayStation version of the addon will be coming, but has said that an Xbox version is planned. BlueBird can’t give us a date for that since they do not want to make any feature compromises with the Xbox version and are not sure how to make it happen as of right now. One option the developer has mentioned is removing certain features, like ACARS, and selling it for much cheaper for Xbox.

If you want to purchase the Boeing 757 for MSFS from BlueBird Simulations, you can do so through the Just Flight store for about 80€.
