BRASS WORKS Releases Q400 FGCP Hardware for X-Plane and P3D

BRASS WORKS releases the Q400 FGCP, a physical flight guidance panel for FlyJSim’s Q4XP in X-Plane and Majestic’s Q400 in Prepar3D, at US$169.

Independent hardware developer BRASS WORKS has released the Q400 FGCP, a physical Flight Guidance Control Panel for the Bombardier Q400 in X-Plane and Prepar3D. The panel works with FlyJSim’s Q4XP in X-Plane and Majestic Software’s Q400 in Prepar3D. It is the first product from BRASS WORKS, a project based in Ontario, Canada.

The Q400, also known as the Dash 8-400, is a Canadian-designed twin-turboprop regional airliner used by airlines on short and medium-haul routes around the world. Its flight guidance control panel sits on the glareshield and is where pilots select autopilot and flight director modes, so it is one of the controls used most during a typical flight. Moving it from the screen to a dedicated piece of hardware is a common goal for home cockpit builders.

According to the developer, the project began as a personal one. He is an airline pilot who previously flew the Q400, and he wanted physical controls in his own simulator setup for practising and reviewing procedures at home. He says the design went through six major versions and more than ten revisions before this first production batch.

The developer says the panel follows the familiar Q400 control layout, with slightly narrowed outer sections to suit desktop use. The markings and controls are backlit, and the lighting is designed to approximate the feel of the real aircraft. The panel connects through a single USB-C cable that carries both data and power. It is supported by BRASSWORKS CONNECT, a companion application for simulator integration, control and lighting tests, and firmware updates. A desktop stand and mounting screws are included.

Orders ship from Canada, typically within three business days. Shipping is free within Canada and the contiguous United States, while other destinations pay the actual shipping cost. The panel comes with a one-year warranty.

Regarding future plans, the BRASS WORKS “Products” page lists upcoming panels for the ATR, CRJ, and A220 aircraft alongside their Q400 panel. However, no further details about these new additions are currently available.

The first production batch of the Q400 FGCP is available now for US$169. You can find product details, further photographs, or purchase the unit on the BRASS WORKS Q400 FGCP product page.
