Parallel 42, developer of Chaseplane for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, has recently posted a development update for the add-on. The blog post goes over Chaseplane’s newest feature, Spotting. It also provides details about the product’s future, namely the ending of the experimental phase and its transition to a stable product.
Spotting & Companion
The latest feature to be added to Chaseplane is called Spotting. As the name suggests, this feature is used to view air traffic at an airport. Chaseplane takes data from AI traffic or online platforms like VATSIM and IVAO to display airport traffic on a map. This map shows details of each nearby aircraft, such as the aircraft type, airline, and distance from your current position.
The map and nearby traffic lists also allow you to use the Chaseplane camera to view the traffic aircraft. You can choose to either move the camera to the traffic so you can travel with it or lock onto it from your current position. An auto spot function is also available, which will automatically switch to different nearby targets with smooth transitions in-between.
The Spotting feature also has a special integration with Sayintentions.ai. Chaseplane can synchronize with Sayintentions to automatically move the camera or lock onto the aircraft currently being given ATC instructions. Spotting does not support MSFS multiplayer aircraft “due to platform limitations”.
Another new feature added is the companion. This is a browser-based remote interface that allows you to control Chaseplane through a different device, such as a tablet. It can be used for Spotting or for changing Chaseplane views as you would from the regular toolbar app in MSFS.
Other Details
Two other improvements were added to Chaseplane with this update. There is now more reliable support for modern controllers and specialty devices, as well as camera controls for depth of field and night vision. Other fixes included in this update focus on improving Chaseplane’s stability and performance.
One last important detail mentioned in the update article was the end of the experimental phase. Chaseplane for MSFS 2024 has been in an experimental phase since it was released in December 2025. Parallel 42 has announced that this experimental phase is now coming to an end, meaning the product will now be transitioning to a fully stable release. This also means the early-release pricing is ending, upping Chaseplane to its final price.
