Fenix Sim Shares New Feature Previews and Development Update

After a while of silence, Aamir of Fenix Simulations has taken to their website to share a new development update and feature review of the upcoming high-fidelity Airbus A320 rendition for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Aamir began the post announcing that they have finally managed to overcome a few internal hurdles with their infrastructure deployment. With that being done, the developers can now get back and refocus more on the airplane and the next testing phase.

The developers have also made decent progress on the flight model and the aircraft characteristic behavior:

Our flight model is also progressing along quite nicely now, with some subtle development work ongoing to try and capture as much of the A320’s character as we possibly can. We’ve made some rather sweeping changes to the flight model (…)

The team has also made a lot of progress on a series of small authentic features of the beautiful 65-tonne aircraft. One of them is an accurate representation of a distinct pitch change when selecting flap 2 (when selecting flap 2 during flight, the aircraft will go from 0 settings straight to 2 as flaps are not deployed when set to 1 during flight, but only slats).

In the next, and final, part of the post, Aamir addressed a very anticipated part of the aircraft within the community, the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB). Aamir described, that the developers have added the ability to draw annotations and notes to the Navigraph charts.

It was further said on this note:

(…) App and software updates will happen automatically, so you won’t have to wait for an update to the aircraft to be released to experience updates to your tablet/apps. Apps are intricately linked together, so you can even download your OFP from SimBrief to your Pilot Briefing app and then export it directly into your Charts app to save time having to manually input them or import twice.

Aamir has summarized the topic by stating, that the EFB is coming along stunningly, and the team couldn’t be happier with the results.

We can not expect fewer updates to come from the team as more complex parts of development are ahead. Updates will be from now on released when ready, instead of when scheduled.
