The developer Fenix Simulations, responsible for the popular add-on of Airbus A320 Family for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024, has released some more information regarding this highly anticipated expansion pack of this aircraft.

The development post started with not-so-great news. That is, the A320 NEO expansion is not going to be released by the end of this year. The development is going well. However, there are some issues in regards to the current state of the aircraft, as reflected by the community. This includes bad VNAV implementation, user state saving and old ECAM infrastructure, with long-standing bugs that have been infecting the aircraft since its initial release in 2022.

Thus, the ultimate decision to reorient a few developers from the NEO team back to working on systems was made. This is going to ensure that the systems are up to modern standards and ready for the inevitable release of the new expansion pack.

Some may ask what is wrong with the VNAV, and that is that there is some old architecture involved in its programming, leading to inconsistent behaviour within Fenix’s rendition of the aircraft family.

Lastly, Fenix Simulations has also shown the A320 NEO in its current state in a video titled “vegetables”, as that’s how they’ve been referring to the required VNAV update in this development post. Basically, you need to eat vegetables before you can eat your dessert; this idiom is applied to VNAV, and the release of the A320 NEO coming later.

The video has shown the Fenix Simulations A320 NEO with the CFM LEAP engines during take-off. During this video, we can hear the new soundpack that is going to accommodate this expansion pack from both the passenger cabin and cockpit perspectives.
