FlightSim Studio AG has released the Boeing 727-100 package for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024. The add-on introduces the original short-body variant of Boeing’s classic trijet to the platform, expanding on the developer’s earlier 727-200 series with a focus on early jet-era operations, system depth, and multi-crew workflows.
Early Jet Era Context and Aircraft Significance
First flown in 1963 and entering airline service in 1964, the Boeing 727-100 was designed to make jet operations viable beyond major hubs. Its trijet configuration, high-lift wing design, and strong low-speed performance allowed it to operate from shorter runways and less-equipped airports. The integrated rear airstair and onboard APU reduced reliance on ground infrastructure, supporting operations at secondary fields.
These characteristics positioned the 727-100 as a key transitional aircraft in the early jet age, enabling reliable jet service on short and medium routes. Its adaptability later extended into freight operations, contributing to the type’s long service life and continued appeal among pilots who favor manual, system-driven flying.

Included Variants and Operational Focus
The package includes three variants. A standard 727-100 passenger model, a dedicated 727-100 freighter, and the Super 27-100 passenger variant. Each version is configured to reflect its intended operational role, with airline-oriented workflows emphasized on passenger models and cargo-specific handling considerations applied to the freighter.
The cockpit is modeled to match the 727-100 layout and includes a fully functional flight engineer station. This supports authentic three-crew procedures and system management consistent with classic jet operations.

Avionics, Navigation, and Systems
Multiple navigation options are provided to support both historical and modern operating styles. These include CIVA INS, GPS 530, GNS-XLS FMC, and optional PMS or TDS GTN 750 integration. An Electronic Flight Bag is included, offering load management tools, performance calculations, and SimBrief integration.
Additional systems include animated ground services such as boarding and GPU connection, customizable night lighting that can be crew-controlled or automated by flight phase, and cabin crew simulation with ambient passenger audio and announcements. Together, these elements are intended to support procedural accuracy and operational immersion.

Availability and Distribution
The Boeing 727-100 package is currently available through Aerosoft, with Contrail also supported. Additional storefronts, including SimMarket, are expected to follow within approximately one to two weeks. Installation is handled via a serial key compatible with both Aerosoft One and Contrail installers, regardless of purchase location.
Comprehensive online documentation is available from FlightSim Studio AG, covering aircraft systems, procedures, and operational guidance.

Updated Pricing Structure
In response to user feedback regarding the modular pricing used for previous 727 releases, FlightSim Studio AG has consolidated the 727-100 into a single package. All variants and features are included in one purchase, with no separate modules required. Existing customers who previously purchased a 727-200 package are eligible for a 20% discount at the store where their original purchase was made.
