FlightSim Studio have released the Super 27 Expansion and shared a Q3 update for their Microsoft Flight Simulator product line-up. The update covered their newest release, the Super 27, and work on the 727-100, as well as their E-Jet Series and Tecnam propeller aircraft.

FSS Tecnam Aircraft Updates

For those interested in propeller aircraft from FSS, the team have shared an update on their progress. They are currently working on updated versions to release natively for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. There’s no release window for any of these aircraft yet, as their progress depends on other projects.

Tecnam aircraft updates, 3D modelling in progress

FSS’s Tecnam P2006T has received an enhanced 3D model alongside new textures. It has also been given improved flight dynamics for MSFS 2024. The aircraft will also now natively support MSFS 2024 walkaround and the new EFB. Their Tecnam 2012 also received these two native MSFS 2024 features, along with improved sounds.

E-Jet Series Update

FSS have been running a closed beta with their first group of testers, and it’s allowed them to fix a lot of reported issues. Some of the most critical issues the developers are working on include the lateral flight path skipping waypoints, vertical path dropping to 0, the Flight Director sequence on takeoff not being reliable, performance prediction not being trustworthy, and autothrottle issues during step climbs.

The developers previewed a fix for two reported bugs that have now been fixed. Both of these bugs are related to how route handling operated during departure. Before, the logic was unreliable and often created strange or unusual pathing on the FMS. With these fixes, pathing issues have been resolved, as seen in the pictures they shared.

VNAV Improvements and Navigraph Integration

E-Jets have several Vertical Navigation (VNAV) modes that the team have been integrating one by one. RNAV approaches, step climbs, and descents before Top of Descent can now all be handled by the aircraft. FSS have already started mapping much of the autopilot to follow all of these profiles. However, the autopilot will follow the path that the MCDU generates, even if that path is incorrect.

This is also why the developers have yet to activate the VNAV function in the closed beta build. FSS says there are many reasons why they have yet to release the beta build as a public experimental build. They are also working on integrating Navigraph navigation data into the MCDU, which has been quite a lengthy process. Many of the bug reports have stemmed from MSFS nav data, so the team hope this will fix it.

Super27 and 727-100 Updates

Now officially confirmed, FlightSim Studio are working on the 727-100 variant. Their current plan includes offering both a dedicated freighter and passenger version; however, convertible models are not being considered right now. They do, however, have a Super 27 expansion planned for the 727-100. Details for this will come at a later date.

In regards to the Super 27, their expansion for the 727 variants is now available via Contrail. The release of this expansion brings a new EFIS, VNAV mode, RNAV approaches, and many more improvements. To use this expansion, you will need the base version of the 727; the EFIS will also only work with the GNS-XLS, however, this is optional. The digital VSI with TCAS can also be used in the base 727, assuming the Super 27 is installed.

FSS’s Super 27 Expansion Pack upgrades the 727 with modern engines, avionics and brings new cockpit features. The add-on brings more power, improved sounds and modernised aircraft systems. It includes new engine configurations, updated flight dynamics, the digital Rockwell Collins EFIS, digital fuel gauges and several new liveries for the freighter and passenger variants. You can purchase the Super 27 via Contrail for £17.80.
