FLY 2 HIGH Releases Long Island MacArthur Airport For MSFS

Just in time for the Summer season, developer FLY 2 HIGH has this week debuted the Long Island MacArthur Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This latest addition to the region comes on the heels of the recent release of the nearby John F. Kennedy International Airport by iniBuilds.

The airport (ICAO: KISP), often just referred to as MacArthur Airport, is situated in the hamlet of Ronkonkoma in the Town of Islip, and is billed in the real world of aviation as a convenient alternative to John F. Kennedy International, LaGuardia, and Newark Liberty International Airports.

MacArthur Airport

Small Town; Busy Airport

One of the interesting things about MacArthur Airport is that despite the fact it is located in a relatively small town, it serves about two million airline passengers per year. The airport also serves general aviation traffic with a number of FBOs (fixed-base operators) on site.

Major airlines such as Southwest and Frontier both have a presence at the airport, and more recently, Breeze Airways has also developed a footprint at the field, making this an attractive stop for any simmer who enjoys making a flying into and out of the eastern seaboard on short-to-medium haul flights.

The airport has a number of runways available for use, with the longest stretching just over 7,000 feet, or 2,135 meters. Two helipads are also available.

A Highly Accurate Recreation of MacArthur Airport

FLY 2 HIGH has proclaimed that simmers can expect this release to be a “highly accurate recreation” of MacArthur Airport, featuring accurate and up to day apron and stand layouts, custom animated jetway models, and detailed depictions of airport hangars, terminals, buildings and other facilities.

Speaking of terminals, FLY 2 HIGH has modeled at least some interior sections of the airport’s terminals, which were visible in promotional screenshots and in a short teaser trailer. The developer has also placed special emphasis on lighting, indicating that night time lighting is dynamic and realistic.

And, of course, for the flight simmers who appreciate some general ambiance, the developer has also noted that animated humans are visible on the apron, so your time at the airport shouldn’t feel barren and lonely.

Availability Details

FLY 2 HIGH’s rendition of KISP can be downloaded immediately from the Flightsim.to web store at the price of $18.99. Buyers can expect the download to come in at approximately 1.6 GB.
