FS Academy, known for past releases such as COMMANDER [Emergency Situations] for MSFS 2020, has just announced its newest release: INTERCEPTOR, an all-new Instrumental Flight Rules (IFR) Training Package for MSFS 2024, is designed to get flight simmers flying IFR like real pilots.
The Art of Flying IFR Step-by-Step
Everyone who has flown VFR in real life or a flight simulator has encountered clouds that block their view, forcing them to stay away from them in order to continue flying. However, this is not the case for those who fly IFR. FS Academy’s most recent release “INTERCEPTOR” is a new training package that aims to teach those who want to fly beyond the mist how to fully rely on their instruments.

FS Academy’s Newest Release
Built by a real airline captain for maximum authenticity and realism, INTERCEPTOR is set to empower flight simmers by providing them with the skills needed to interpret the plane’s instruments, which will be their eyes and ears in these kinds of flight conditions.
The 30-mission training pack is designed to teach in a wide variety of environments and situations, from legacy gauges to modern glass cockpits, revealing the beauty of instrumental flight by providing the skills needed to navigate difficult flight conditions step-by-step.
Essential Topics Covered
By using internationally compatible techniques and procedures that are used in real life, INTERCEPTOR covers a wide variety of topics that are crucial to any pilot willing to embark on a journey that goes beyond cloudy and rainy days. Some of the topics that are covered include, but are not limited to:
- VOR and NDB navigation
- Use of the Omni-Bearing Selector (OBS) and DME arcs
- Procedure Turns, Compass turns, Enroute turn anticipation
- Holding patterns and their entry procedures
- Accounting for wind drift
- ILS, VOR, and NDB approaches
- Holding pattern and interception exercises
- Instrumentation failures, known as partial panel
- Culminating in a two-part Instrument Rating Skills Test
Closing Notes
Despite not having a release date yet (to be announced), INTERCEPTOR is set to be a game-changer IFR flight training tool for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, not only for flight simulation enthusiasts but also for real-life student pilots who want to learn and/or practice their skills in the simulator.
The developer invites those who want to embark on the IFR journey to take their first step with this tool, which trailer can be found here. The developer’s website can be found here. If you would like to read more flight simulation news, check out our main page.
