FSimStudios Details Upcoming 2023 Releases

FSimStudios took to their Facebook page to post an update on their current work-in-progress projects and to announce and share insight on a new project in collaboration with another flight sim developer.

To start things off, FSimStudios went ahead to give a word of thanks to the community for the support and feedback they have received in the past couple of years. The development team initially started off as a part-time hobby, but as time progressed, the flight sim community grew massively. This enabled one of the members, Gabriel, to become a full-time flight sim developer.

Moving onto the core announcements, Gabriel states with confidence that the WIP Calgary Airport (CYYC) rendition for Microsoft Flight Simulator is a little less than a month from release. A week or so, plus or minus, for testing, optimization, and more. He states that the terminal is almost done as is the ground poly of the rendition. Just a matter of integrating all the components and the rendition would be ready to go. As the release date approaches, teasers, a trailer, and screenshots from the team will be released. The P3D version of the rendition, however, is indefinitely delayed and no timelines were provided as the team is prioritizing MSFS projects above P3D.

Another tidbit shared by FSimStudios is regarding the Winnipeg Airport (CYWG) rendition for MSFS. 3D modeling for the airport terminal and airport buildings is 70% complete and an early summer 2023 release is targeted at the time of writing. As soon as Winnipeg for MSFS is completed, all resources and effort will concentrate on the Winnipeg Airport rendition.

The team then announced a new project for MSFS: Houston Hobby Airport which is being developed by Texan Simulations and will be distributed by FSimStudios. The team has been supporting the Texan Simulations team for the past few months with dev resources and distribution upon release for their rendition of Houston Hobby Airport (KHOU). The project also happens to be their first commercial product for the flight simulator. KHOU is being developed to the highest quality standards and will be released shortly in the coming weeks through all FSimStudios distribution channels. A unique rendition as FSExpo is being held in close proximity to KHOU in mid-summer this year.

With regard to projects beyond the summer of 2023, a V2 of the renditions of both Vancouver and Halifax are being planned. A few other projects are in the “early research” stages but no details were shared by the team as there is no concrete roadmap as of now.
