FlightSim Studio AG has pushed Version 1.0 of their E-Jets out, ending an almost 4-year early access period. The FSS team have released 39 updates, hundreds of patches, and tracked thousands of bugs across the E-Jets since its initial release into early access. With the end of early access, FSS also set out a roadmap between now and the end of the year, including native Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 support.

E-Jets V1.0 Release

The biggest change for V1.0 is a new custom autopilot to address numerous issues reported over the years. The team rebuilt the autopilot, moving away from the previous limited MSFS approach. This allowed FSS to control the behaviour of the system more directly, along with bringing full lateral and vertical modes.

VNAV and the FMS have been improved, fixing numerous previous issues such as cruise speeds, heading legs, VNAV remaining level if the descent path is above the aircraft and the flight director following the flight path, no longer jumping to the horizon in FLCH.

FSS has also worked on the PFD, IESS and EICAS to move specific display logic into their own WASM systems, providing a significant jump in performance. The entire MCDU and flight plan system has also been written from scratch with new features like PDC clearance via Hoppie, ACARS weather uplink and better performance planning.

Other fixes in this update include fixes to RNAV, so RNAV approaches no longer leave an ILS preview on the PFD; the transponder IDENT now works with vPilot and Altitude, ATC logon via Hoppie with PDC, ATIS and CPDLC and a new terrain display on the MFD with look-ahead terrain alerts.

Future Roadmap

FSS have reiterated that although early access has ended, it does not mean development on the E-jets will stop. The team’s priority is to work through bug reports, address any issues and refine the aircraft to the best it can be. The foundation of V1.0 will also allow the team to work on the next major step, native MSFS 2024 support.

Native MSFS 2024 support means reworking much of the aircraft and its systems to work with the newer platform. They have also said they will provide a tool that can convert old liveries to the newer folder structure once a native MSFS 2024 release is ready, as old liveries will undoubtedly break.

Other Items on the roadmap include a Service Update 1 in November bringing Fix Info to the MCDU, Vertical Direct-To, SayIntentions and BeyondATC integration, and sound improvements. According to the roadmap, the native MSFS 2024 version is due for release in December.

V1.0 of the FSS E-Jets is available now via Contrail, with the update free for existing owners. However, the price has increased now that the E-Jets have left early access. You can find the E-Jets here on the Contrail Store, and read about previous updates from FSS on their E-Jets, as well as any future updates here on FSNews.
