MK Studios has released an EFB app called MK Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The app was shared as a ZIP file in a Discord message by Lars of Contrail, one of MK Studios’ distributors and publishers, for simmers who do not want to wait for its official launch on the Contrail App.
Lars said the app will become a regular release there, but he posted it early because it was almost midnight where he is, for those who want to use it with Miami (KMIA). We covered that airport scenery in our earlier report on the MK Studios Miami Airport release.
MK Airport brings the ground side of MK Studios airports into the default EFB in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. MK Studios’ sceneries run their own jetways alongside the default MSFS ones, including gates with two or three jetways, upper-deck bridges and door logic. The app puts every jetway at a stand on one screen. Users can pick a jetway and a door, or press Connect all. The MSFS jetway then moves first, and the MK Studios jetways follow to the free doors in an order that keeps them from blocking each other.

The new MK Airport EFB app is not required for this. MK Studios says its jetways follow the default MSFS jetway no matter who calls it, whether that is their new app, the sim menu, ATC, GSX or the aircraft itself. Any aircraft that can call a jetway should therefore already work with the MK Studios ones.
The app also ties the flight to the airport. Users can import their latest SimBrief plan with only a SimBrief username. The Safedock-style VDGS then shows the callsign and TOBT (target off-block time). The gate board above the boarding door shows the flight number, airline logo, destination and departure time, and switches to DEPARTED after TOBT. The VDGS can be switched off, for example to use the GSX one instead, or set to show a custom message. A settings page offers optional airport effects such as steam and smoke, which are off by default for performance.
The app needs an MK Studios airport that includes the MK Airport module. Without it, the airport scenery still works, with the VDGS guiding aircraft in and the MK Studios jetways following the MSFS jetway. MK Studios says more gates with its jetways and more of its airports will support the app over time. The tool will be distributed free of charge through the Contrail App.
