MK Studios Releases Barcelona El-Prat Airport for MSFS

MK Studios has been recently teasing their oncoming scenery of Barcelona El-Prat Airport (LEBL) for Microsoft Flight Simulator, and today, they have announced the release of this scenery via their social media. The developer promises to bring a life-like recreation of the airport to the Asobo platform.

Barcelona El-Prat Airport is the main international airport serving Barcelona city, Spain. The airport is also considered the main gateway to Catalonia, a Spanish region known for its proximity to the Pyrenees mountains, the beautiful Roman architecture, and the home of one of the greatest artists in the world, Salvador Dalí.

The airport is also known as Josep Tarradellas Airport and it was opened back in 1918. It is the second largest airport in the country, overtaken only by Madrid Barajas Airport. Mostly used for international flights in Europe, the airport serves as the main hub for Vueling, Air Europa and Iberia.

Barcelona Airport is equipped with two parallel runways 07/25 and two passenger terminals, as well as a cargo terminal. Passengers can get to various destinations from this airport, such as Athens, Dublin, Baku, Vienna, New York, Alicante or even Istanbul, Keflavík and Tel Aviv.

MK Studios Barcelona Features

MK Studios aimed to create a faithful recreation of this airport, utilising modern features, creating immersive details and bringing quality-of-life attributes. This scenery is equipped with the Nool VDGS plugin for an enhanced parking experience, including the A-CDM system. Naturally, there are handcrafted 3D models of buildings, airport facilities and jetways.

The airport’s ground is covered by a 30cm/pixel satellite imagery, that sits on a custom LiDAR scanned elevation data of the whole airport. For immersive day and night operations, MK Studios utilises the simulator’s game engine for the best possible experience while flying to or from this airport.
