MK Studios has released their latest add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024, Düsseldorf Airport. It follows previous releases, such as Seattle Airport, Zurich Airport, and Lisbon Airport. MK Studios teased Düsseldorf Airport a while ago but have been quiet on its progress recently. This is a much-awaited release for MSFS 2020 and 2024 users.
About Düsseldorf Airport
Düsseldorf Airport is Germany’s fourth-busiest airport, handling over 20 million passengers a year. It is located just north of downtown Düsseldorf and is a major international airport for Germany. The airport is a hub for Eurowings, among other popular airlines, including SunExpress, Condor, TUI Fly, SAS, TAP Air Portugal, and Corendon Airlines.
Serving almost every country in Europe and some in Africa, the Middle East and North America, Düsseldorf Airport has three main passenger terminals and two runways. It can handle aircraft as large as the Airbus A380 with its two runways. The airport is owned by the city of Düsseldorf, with the other 50% owned by the Airport’s partners, GmbH.
MK Studios Düsseldorf Airport
MK Studios has brought a highly detailed rendition of Düsseldorf Airport into MSFS 2020 and 2024. The developers have used an up-to-date ground layout of the airport for the best accuracy. The terminals have had their interiors modelled fully in high detail, including the main hall and all other passenger areas. All 3D models and textures have been crafted to be as realistic and detailed as possible.
Around the airport, you can expect to find animated GSE (Ground Service Equipment) vehicles, the SkyTrain, trains, flags and commercials. All of which have been animated, modelled and textured accurately. MK Studios has also hand-crafted all taxiway signs, vehicle models and other ground services. Immersive lighting and custom approach, runway, and taxiway lights have also been included.
To further enhance the area, MK Studios has also modelled different points of interest. These include many bridges, the train station, the city tower, petrol stations and many more. These points of interest have also been detailed accurately based on current layouts and data. The developers also note using precise airport and runway elevation data to make the add-on more realistic.
