The developer MK Studios has released another Finnish airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator, as after the recent release of Helsinki, the team takes us to the winter wonderland of Rovaniemi. The announcement of this release has been made through the developer’s Facebook page throughout this Christmas.
About Rovaniemi Airport
Rovaniemi Airport is located exactly on the Arctic Circle, which crosses the runway from the north. The airport was built in the 1940s and was used as a supply centre for the Germans. In Finland, this is the second-busiest airport after Helsinki, and is mostly used during winter by many European carriers.

This is because Rovaniemi is home to the Santa Claus village and Santa Park. Winters get quite magical here; thus, it is not as popular during the summer to visit. Tourists can get to Rovaniemi from various airports across Europe, including Paris, Vienna, Dublin, Zurich, Tel. Aviv and even Barcelona.
MK Studios’ Rendition
MK Studios has created a detailed scenery of this airport, with high-quality 3D modelling, realistic textures and up-to-date ground layout. There are custom jetways that are animated, accurate lighting of approach, runway and taxiway signs. The layout is accompanied by precise elevation data throughout the whole scenery. The scenery is compatible with both Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024.
