The well-known scenery developer MK-Studios has released a brand new scenery for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. After previously releasing its rendition of Barcelona Airport (LEBL) for this simulator in 2024, the developer returns to Spain to bring to life one of the most important airports in the Canary Islands. The airport in question is Tenerife South Airport, the biggest of two airports located on the island of Tenerife.

About this Airport

Tenerife Sur-Reina Sofia Airport (ICAO: GCTS), named after Queen Sofia of Spain, is the second-busiest airport in the Canary Islands and the gateway for most tourists visiting for holidays. It shares the island’s air traffic with its older brother, Tenerife North Airport, which handles mostly domestic flights, while Tenerife South handles international leisure flights.

The airport came to be in response to the need for better airport infrastructure for travelers on the island and in response to the infamous crash of two Boeing 747s at Tenerife North Airport, formerly known as Los Rodeos Airport. 20 months after the disaster, the new Tenerife Sur Airport was inaugurated in 1978. It is located on the south side of the island, hence its name, handling almost 14 million passengers last year.

Features

Similar to other sceneries by MK-Studios, this scenery boasts multiple features and details that bring this airport to life. This airport’s layout has been updated to the latest version based on real data, reflecting how it looks in real life. The terrain texture combines perfectly with the surrounding terrain, all of which is high quality and handcrafted with performance in mind. All signs and ground markings are accurate, with custom lighting for both exterior and interior lights.

The terminal building is completely modeled and populated with items and models, including custom jetways with faithfully recreated animations. The exterior of the airport features a parking space full of cars and buses for tourists. Other details you may find include a rescue building for airport firefighters or even a plane spotting area near the airport.

MK-Studios returns once again to this airport after some years, with a previous rendition made by them back in the Prepar3D era. The new Tenerife South Airport for MSFS 2024 is now available at Contrail for €16,99. For a more in-depth look at this developer, check out more scenery made by them in this article.
