Following the Sim Update 1 released roughly three weeks ago, the Microsoft Flight Simulator team has now released the Sim Update 2 Beta. Now available on Steam, Windows PC, and Xbox, this beta phase aims to enhance the simulator, as well as get feedback from users before officially releasing it.
Memory Logging
The team starts the change log by letting users know about memory logging, which will be enabled in the first Sim Update 2 Beta build. This is expected to cause a small decrease in performance (especially during menu transitions), and its purpose is to aid the team’s investigations into stability improvements. This will be removed from the Sim Update 2 Beta before it is released or as soon as the team collects enough data.

Changes to Career/Challenge League
Starting from the Sim Update 2 Beta, Career and Challenge League will have separate progress and leaderboards from the live build. This is translated into the career mode progress in the live build not being carried over to the flighting build, and vice versa. In addition, Challenge League in the flighting build will have a separate leaderboard from the live build.

This will allow the team to test additional changes and fixes that cannot be tested in the live build. All Career specializations will be unlocked by default in the flighting build to allow participating users to preview changes that might not be available (based on Career mode progress) in the live build.
Changes in Sim Update 2 Beta
This sim update beta aims to improve the game in terms of performance, stability, physics, flight system, model behaviour, aircraft gameplay, and career mode, among many others. It also focuses on fixing bugs on different aircraft and other aspects, improving the overall simulator not only from the playability side, but also in terms of realism.
