Just a few hours ago, an important Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 update was released. Version 1.3.23.0 includes several bug fixes, stability and performance improvements, aircraft enhancements, and new additions that aim to bring up the realism of Asobo’s latest release.
Stability & Performance Improvements
The Microsoft Flight Simulator team has released various fixes and improvements in terms of stability and performance, which include crashes that could occur at different times (airport generation, selecting liveries, switching VR mode ON/OFF, and others), texture memory usage, and loading times, among others.

General & Backwards Compatibility Bug Fixes
In terms of general bugs, issues with the controller losing inputs, wrong HUD color on some aircraft, missing music on some activities, and usage of real time have been fixed in this update, among others. Additionally, bugs such as duplicated community packages have been resolved.
Additionally, many issues regarding compatibility problems coming from Asobo’s previous release, MSFS 2020, have been fixed with this update. Among the fixes, an issue where MSFS 2020 planes’ exterior lights would bleed into the cockpit when displayed in the new simulator has been solved. Moreover, another issue where textures referenced in FX files were not loading correctly has been fixed, among others.

Aircraft Additions & Bug Fixes
The airplanes did not fall behind in this update, as a new aircraft has been introduced to the simulator. The Cessna 185F Skywagon, from Carenado, is now available for no extra cost. Additionally, the grouping of aircraft from MSFS 2020 has been improved in the aircraft selector, making it more visually appealing.
However, planes already available in the simulator need some attention as well. Many bug fixes and improvements have been made, mainly focused on visual enhancements, several small bugs, and system-depth improvements, which aim to elevate the realism. The total number of planes that have received an update is 40.
Aircraft Core Systems
The aircraft’s core systems also needed an improvement, which the team focused on bringing with this update. Core systems that have been enhanced/fixed include the fuel system, glass cockpits, G1000 NXI, Garmin G3000 / G5000, Garmin G3X Touch, GNS 430/GNS 530, LX9070, Primus Epic 2.0 Integrated Avionics System, Pro Line 21 Integrated Avionics System, and the UNS-1Ew SBAS-Flight Management System.

Flight Systems & Aircraft Gameplay
The magnetic variation data has been upgraded to the WMM 2025 model. In terms of the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB), there are several bug fixes and additions included in this update, such as incorrectly positioned icons and manual contingency fuel entries, among others. Regarding the aircraft gameplay, the default player camera speed has been improved, along with the gamepad’s action curves.
Career Mode
The career mode, which was controversial at first due to the high number of bugs and errors that were not addressed before launch, has finally gotten some attention, as there are several fixes aimed to prevent crashes and visualisation errors, among others. The base reward for some specializations has also been increased.

Activities & Missions
In terms of activities and missions, the update focused on fixing bugs that prevented the player from getting certain scores, communicating with ATC, and eliminating alerts that would appear for no apparent reason. Additionally, several textual issues have been addressed in different training activities.
World & Airports
The photogrammetry also needed attention from the developers, as this update fixes visual errors such as city lights displaying on landscapes, giant trees, cliff textures, among others. Furthermore, many airports have been either enhanced or improved, which include KJFK, KLAX, KSEA, LFLJ, EDDM, VNLK, CYTZ, and more. Glider airports and helipads have also been improved.
