The Microsoft team has released a new City Update for their game series, Microsoft Flight Simulator. This City Update, 13th in the series, is focusing on small, as well as big cities in the Golden State of California. The information about this release has been posted on the Microsoft Flight Simulator forums.
In total, this City Update improves eighteen urban areas across this state and includes the most spectacular locations that can be found there. The update includes major cities, such as Sacramento, with its virtual landmarks such as the State Capitol, Tower Bridge, Capitol Park and the Ziggurat Building.

The San Francisco Bay Area has been improved as well, and includes cities of San Francisco, Fremont, San Jose, San Rafael, Novato and Oakland. Over here, we can find the famous Golden Gate Bridge, the Transamerica Pyramid, Coit Tower, or the Island of Alcatraz.
Some improved cities can also be found in the San Joaquin Valley. This includes Modesto, Fresno, Visalia, with landmarks like the Modesto Arch, Gallo Centre for the Arts and McHenry Mansion. In the central coast, Santa Barbara and Santa Maria were reworked, significantly improving the depiction of these beautiful cities.

Flying further down south, we can see the improved Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. Over here, we can find Hollywood, the Griffith Observatory, U.S. Bank Tower and other notable landmarks in the heart of Los Angeles. Microsoft Flight Simulator’s City Update 13 is also improving the nearby region of Anaheim.
Lastly, San Diego was not left out either, with its beautiful skyline. As the approach towards San Diego Airport is close to the city centre, this is surely a great addition for many virtual flyers.
City Update 13: California is now available for everyone who is either on Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 or MSFS 2024, completely free of charge. Be sure to have the latest version of the game installed. You can also read more about the previous city update in one of our articles here.
